If you’re looking for a more efficient energy solution for your new home, connecting to reticulated natural gas is a no brainer.
Natural gas produces the lowest carbon emissions of any fossil fuel. It’s reliable, has a great safety record, and gives us cosy indoor heating in winter while firing up our barbecues and cooling the house in summer.
And connecting gas in your house needn’t be a complicated process. In fact, it can be as easy as taking the following five steps.

Step 1: Is Natural Gas available for your new home?
The Junction is Natural Gas Ready!
We work with the natural gas network owners to ensure that every new home can connect to natural gas.
Step 2: Getting connected
Chat to your builder. Tell them you want gas in your home and they’ll arrange to get you connected. You should also discuss what gas appliances you want to install.
For owner builders, call AGN’s service provider APA’s connection centre team on 1300 001 001 to order a gas service.
So what exactly will they do?
They’ll lodge a request with us to install a service line – the connection from the gas mains in your street to the meter on your property.
While building your home, they’ll keep in mind a suitable location for the gas meter – which will be chosen during a visit from a meter installer.
Your builder will also arrange someone to install the gas pipes, meter and appliances at your property
Step 3: Choose a Energy Retailer to set up an account and request a meter installation
The Retailer is the supplier that provides gas to your home and sends the bills for your usage, so you’ll need to set up an account. As part of the move-in process, you’ll also need to get a gas meter fitted at your property by requesting a meter fix. For the meter to be fitted, this normally takes a couple of days. Once your meter fix has been scheduled and confirmed, an authorised APA Contractor will install it at your house, carrying out a pressure and safety test. You do not need to be at home when the meter is fitted as the meter is an external fixture.

And that’s it!
Your new home is now connected to Natural Gas.
Once in place, you’re free to switch to another energy retailer if you choose to do so. But in the meantime, your home will be able to enjoy instant and infinitely controllable energy at all times.
